(3 Stars) Good music, camera work, and Erivo’s performance. But stumbles on story-telling.


I Lost My Body
(4 Stars) A surprising mental challenge exploring destiny and free will, but definitely not a family movie

Irishman
(4.5 Stars) In addition to what you expect, it shows that old folks still have huge creative talent. Still one of the best pictures of 2019.

Jojo Rabbit
(3 Stars) Some good moments. But the movie doesn’t quite come together.

(4.5 Stars) Difficult to watch, especially right now. But perhaps necessary.

(3.5 Stars) An exceptional performance by Zellweger in an otherwise mediocre movie.

Knives Out
(4 Stars) Does everything a mystery should do and then some. Sharp and witty.

Les Miserables
(3 Stars) Interesting and well done, but not exactly memorable.

(2 Stars) A retelling of the original story with amazing computer-animation technology. Watch it if you, or your family, didn’t see the original.

Little Women
(5 Stars) A wonderful feminist approach that is perfect holiday entertainment. A well crafted movie.

Marriage Story
(4.5 Stars) A sometimes difficult movie to watch, but with powerful moments. The boundaries between love and hate are thin.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
(3.5 Stars) A movie Of Hollywood, By Hollywood, and, most importantly, FOR Hollywood!

Pain and Glory
(4 Stars) Subtle and Multi-layered. Almodovar, Banderas, and Cruz at the top of their games.

Parasite
(5 Stars) An exceptionally well crafted movie that moves you through multiple emotions all while exploring the complexities of social class.


Rocketman
(3.5 Stars) Elton John’s life presented as a musical – great entertainment.
